James E. Voos, MD, Chair, UH Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Jack and Mary Herrick Distinguished Chair in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, President-elect of the NFL Physician’s Society, and Head Team Physician, Cleveland Browns, and Jacob Calcei, MD, UH orthopedic sports medicine physician and shoulder surgeon, performed groundbreaking surgeries using the technology on two patients with ACL injuries.

UH's study on the ArthroFree System pointed to greater operating room efficiency, cost savings, improved safety and reduced sterilization requirements due to fewer cords and cables. The proprietary low-heat, high-power light engine technology also decreases the risks of burns and fires in the operating room.
