Longtime UH Portage Supporter Makes Gift to Breast Health
Jim Fleming considers himself the luckiest guy in the world. Originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, Jim successfully underwent treatment for lung cancer in the fall of 2020.
Jim, who served as a board member of the Portage Medical Center Foundation for nine years and was a longtime volunteer at UH Portage Medical Center, felt compelled to give back. He and his wife Judy, recently made a gift to improve breast health diagnostics at UH Portage. The stereostatic machine purchased with their gift performs extraordinarily precise biopsies and helps to speed up diagnoses. Thanks to this new tool, UH patients in Ravenna who are in need of stereostatic and other cancer diagnostics can now stay closer to home. Watch the above video to hear more about Jim's story.
UH Portage Medical Center offers an array of medical and surgical specialties, a Level III Trauma Emergency Department, two urgent care facilities, comprehensive imaging facilities, a network of physician practices, and outpatient centers and medical facilities throughout the county.
