UH Rainbow Ahuja Center Celebrates 5th Anniversary

University Hospitals Rainbow Babies Children’s Ahuja Center for Women & Children recently celebrated five years of community impact.

“Despite the challenges we faced throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our mission remains as powerful as ever and our success, defined by the experiences and improved health outcomes of our families, has never been greater,” said Patti DePompei RN, MSN, President, UH Rainbow Babies & Children's and UH MacDonald Women's Hospital, and Rainbow Babies & Children's Foundation Chair in Leadership and Innovation. “Our work is making a real a difference in the lives of our patients and in the health of the community at large.”

When it opened in 2018, the UH Rainbow Ahuja Center for Women & Children made a commitment to meeting the needs of area children and families. The wrap-around care and services provided at the MidTown location – including women’s health, pediatric primary care, dental and vision care, community outreach programs, legal aid services, and more – are helping to address social determinants of health in the community.

“We strongly believe in improved and equitable access to care, and are thankful for the generosity of our friends and benefactors who share these priorities,” added Patti. “Community support brought our dream for this center to life five years ago and, today, our unique model of care is influencing outreach strategies across our health system. I sincerely hope our friends and donors see the tremendous impact of their giving.”

The three lead donors to the UH Rainbow Ahuja Center for Women & Children were Monte and Usha Ahuja, who made their gift in honor of their daughters, Manisha Ahuja Sethi and Ritu Ahuja Khanna, the George M. & Pamela S. Humphrey Fund and the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Foundation.
