Visionary Donors Establish Endowed Position for UHConnect

When Shelly Adelman learned that a certain donor support for UHConnect was coming to an end, he knew this vital funding needed to continue. As a result, Shelly and his wife, Terry, established the Adelman Family Endowed Director for UHConnect. Sam (Sandra) Lucarelli, MSN, RN, NE-BC, is the inaugural appointee of this impactful new role.
The Adelmans, recipients of the 2011 Samuel Mather Visionary Award, are longtime, active supporters of UH. Shelly currently serves as co-chair of UH’s unprecedented $2 billion fundraising campaign, Because of You, and has provided invaluable vision and guidance in developing UH Premier Services to bring personalized care assistance to UH friends and supporters.
Sam said she was shocked when she learned the news. “I am just so blessed and honored. This funding will allow the program to continue at a high level and support the amazing people who are running it.”
She plans to use funding from the gift to pay for conferences, continuing education, and to provide opportunities for her staff to attend additional donor outreach events. Furthermore, this support will help assist with scheduling and other department needs.
“UHConnect is a vital part of UH’s philanthropic mission and I’m so happy I was able to surprise Sam with this endowed position. It will allow the department to receive the education needed to keep growing and thriving,” said Shelly.
Sam said the Adelman Family Endowed Director sets up UHConnect for future success. “This gift will give me the freedom to make sure we have the best staff in place to assist our donors for decades to come.”
