North Canton Girl Holds Lemonade Stand to Benefit UH Rainbow
Lemonade stands are ubiquitous with summer and this was the summer for Elena Boyer’s very own stand. When it came time to make a plan on what to do with the proceeds, the North Canton resident and her mom, Jessica, talked about all the different places that could benefit from a donation such as local shelters, police and fire stations, hospitals and families in need.
“We have dear friends at church who are affected by pediatric cancer. After we thought through the different options, Elena was very adamant that she wanted to donate to kids with cancer,” recalled Jessica. Together, they researched a number of different foundations that served children affected by cancer and found UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. Jessica decided to call UH Rainbow to get more information and said, “Everyone was so nice and Elena was getting more and more excited!”
Elena’s lemonade stand was so successful that she was able to donate $350 to the hospital. And now, when Elena sees the UH Rainbow sign, she can say she was able to help make life a little bit sweeter for the children and families in need of care. We can’t wait to see what Elena puts her mind to next.
