The Power of Music
Like most other arts and culture institutions, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is closed because of the pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped them from bringing cheer and rock ‘n roll into the community.
Last week, UH Parma Medical Center received a surprise visit from the Rock Hall’s music-playing van, Joy Ride. In addition to a fun music experience, Joy Ride also provided UH caregivers with lunch, courtesy of Chick-fil-A Strongsville. Helmed by the Rock Hall’s director of production and live events, Lisa Vinciquerra, Joy Ride began cruising Cleveland neighborhoods on April 30.
In a time of social distancing, the Rock Hall hopes that Joy Ride will highlight music’s ability to connect and bring people together. Caregivers at UH Connor Integrative Health Network could not agree more.
“The world around us has become unpredictable, but your favorite music has remained the same and it will be there when you need it,” said UH Parma Medical Center’s new music therapist, Danny Rose, MA, MT-BC. “We encourage our patients and fellow caregivers to look to music and other creative outlets to help relieve stress. Now more than ever, it’s important to not give up on the things that fill your cup and bring you comfort and happiness.”
Joy Ride’s playlists, including a mindfulness mix, feel-good distraction mix and career-defining playlists for Rock Hall inductees, can be found on the Rock Hall’s Spotify channel.
