Meet the honorees: Margaret Singerman and Larry Singerman, MD

Margaret Singerman and Lawrence J. Singerman, MD are esteemed leaders and philanthropists whose dedication to advancing healthcare, education and the arts has made a profound impact on Greater Cleveland and beyond.

Margaret and Larry Singerman, MD

Margaret is a member of the UH Board of Trustees, Co-Chair of the UH National Art Leadership Council, and serves on many UH committees, including UH Ahuja Medical Center, UHConnect Advisory Board and Seidman Cancer Leadership Councils. She is a co-chair of Five Star Sensation, UH’s signature event benefitting Seidman Cancer Center. Margaret also co-chaired the grand opening gala of the UH Ahuja Medical Center.

As a community leader, Margaret has served and chaired events for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland, the Cleveland Ballet, Great Lakes Theater, FIDF, AMDA, the Montefiore Foundation, the Agnon School, and the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, including chairing the Women’s Division and Women’s Division of Israel Bonds.

Dr. Larry Singerman is equally distinguished in his dedication to leadership and service. Larry founded Retina Associates of Cleveland in 1974 and has built it into a premier practice with 26 locations, including 16 retinal specialists. He is the founder of the Macula Society, which includes 500 members from across the world who specialize in retina and macula diseases and research. As a clinical professor of ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals and Baskin Palmer Eye Institute, Larry has led over 200 clinical research studies on retinal diseases. He is co-chair of the National Art Leadership Council at University Hospitals and sits on the Dean’s committee of Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. He has held leadership roles in the Ohio, Cleveland and national Ophthalmological Societies and the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland.

Together, Margaret and Larry are members of UH’s Samuel Mather Society, reflecting their shared commitment to philanthropy. They reside in Moreland Hills, Ohio, and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. They consider their children Stacy and Seth (Dana) and grandchildren Serena, Sloane and Grant their greatest love and legacy. Together, Margaret and Larry are shining examples of leadership and commitment to others.
